This past Monday, bassist Ben Williams and his quintet ‘Sound Effect’ were the featured band on the  NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert series, which features performers of any style of music performing around a 15 or 20 minute live set behind the, well, tiny desk of Bob Boilen, host of NPR’s All Songs Considered program.  Ben is a Washington, D.C. native, which is also where the NPR offices are located, so it seems fitting that they started their quick set with the first song off of his recently released album State of Art entitled ‘Home’.  Only two songs are up for steam from the set, but they sound solid.  Ben was also recently featured on NPR earlier in the month with Sound Effect, but the band for that performance was different than the one that is heard here for the Tiny Desk Concert.  Ben is a monster and is always gigging, so definitely try to catch him if you can.
