For anyone who doesn’t live in Brooklyn it can be a bit of a schlep to get down to see all of the incredible jazz that is happening in the outer-borough. And though every time we say it, it seems to fall on lamenting (read: complaining) ears, hear is yet another push for the integration of the Brooklyn and Manhattan jazz scenes. The Village Voice recently published, “All That Brooklyn Jazz” featuring musicians and venues from Brooklyn. Check it out!

“If the Brooklyn jazz scene of today seems insular, that’s not necessarily intentional. “To be honest, I mean, I reached out to Wynton,” says Garrison, referring to Wynton Marsalis, the artistic director of Jazz at Lincoln Center. He got no response. He’d hoped to get a collaboration going, to open a dialogue between the scene in Brooklyn and the institutions of JaLC.”
