Coming up on Coltrane’s Birthday, Monday, Sept. 23rd, Revive Music and Jazz at Lincoln Center partner to premiere a joint celebration featuring Marcus Strickland Quartet with the legendary Jeff “Tain” Watts on drums, Dezron Douglas on bass and Luis Perdomo on piano; all in celebration of John Coltrane and one of his most iconic records My Favorite Things.

Presented by Revive Music and Jazz at Lincoln Center

John Coltrane’s regrettably short career continues to inspire and influence top artists today, such as award-winning, rising star saxophonist Marcus Strickland. To celebrate Coltrane’s birthday, Strickland and his Quartet will be performing his favorite Coltrane tunes and arrangements, highlighting some of the saxophone master’s invaluable contributions to our music. Choice selections include “My Favorite Things,” “Afro Blue,” “Naima,” “Syeeda’s Song Flute,” and “Liberia.” With Luis Perdomo, Dezron Douglas, and Jeff “Tain” Watts also onstage, this will be a great evening for fans of Coltrane, as well as anyone interested in seeing a top-level quartet perform some of jazz’s most revered and lasting compositions.

The Coca-Cola Generations in Jazz Festival showcases an array of up-and-coming musicians alongside some of today’s most established jazz masters.
