Stay tuned for his second studio album release Through Hell & High Water due out Spring of 2014.
On Through Hell & High Water, Kenneth Whalum, III showcases a profound influence of John Coltrane and the musical legacy of his Memphis roots while, confidently defining his own personal sound as a musician and singer who grew up listening to hip hop and R&B. Hardly your typical jazz fusion album, Whalum intentionally takes listeners on a musical and soulful journey when he sings and plays on songs like “Away” which is about losing oneself and then finding your way. He says, “This album is about reaching that pivotal mark or a turning point. I hope it encourages people to reflect on the past but more importantly press toward an even greater future, no matter what it takes”.
