A voice of the new age, Takuya Kuroda gears up for his Blue Note Records debut on February 18th with the release of Rising Son produced by labelmate Jose James. Rising Son features a heavy cast of players including pianist Kris Bowers, electric bassist Solomon Dorsey, drummer Nate Smith, and trombonist Corey King. Guitarist Lionel Loueke joins Kuroda, lending a bluesy, percussive solo on one of the album’s standout highly zoetic-percussive tracks, “Afro Blues”.

Hailing from Kobe, Japan, Kuroda brings a truly unique sound– a new age of rising jazz trumpeters. Jose James, who produced Takuya’s album, says, “His tone, warmth, and most of all, his storytelling have inspired me for years. His writing is soulful, modern, and effortlessly bridges the gap between jazz and soul, and between history and tomorrow.”
