New York-based saxophonist Tivon Pennicott has a CV that boasts a who’s who in today’s music scene. The two-time Grammy award-winning musician has backed artists like Gregory Porter, Esperanza SpaldingRoy HargroveAri HoenigMark de Clive-Lowe and many more. Though Pennicott’s unique sound definitely makes him one of the most sought after musicians today, he’s also proven that he can lead his own groups. A few of our readers might recall Penicott’s video earlier this year where he sang and played saxo on the “Spring Will Be A Little Late This Year.” A couple of you might even remember his amazing rendition of “12 Days of Christmas.” While the two videos are perfect examples of the saxophonist’s penchant for adapting standards,  ‘Lover of Nature’ (his debut album) showcases his compositional voice.
