As stated previously, there are only a few things that can make us quit whatever we’re doing and focus completely on one thing. Melbourne-based band Hiatus Kaiyote dropping a new single from their forthcoming Choose Your Weapon LP is one of those things that prompts all of us at Revive to collectively stop what we’re doing and raise one hand to commence the palm-to-face-to-cover-our-nasty-stank-face routine. Writing this while listening to “Breathing Underwater”– which was premiered on Fader today– even becomes a task-and-a-half.

Fader Premiere: Hiatus Kaiyote - "Breathing Underwater"

“‘Breathing Underwater’ is homage to the different examples of love and compassion in the world that are beyond the limitation of romance,” HK’s vocalist Nai Palm tells Fader. “I used arid imagery to depict this—for example, the Jericho rose, an African resurrection plant, can survive dormant without water for over a hundred years. If it rains, it can bloom within minutes showcasing the immense power of nurture.”
