Vocalist Sarah Elizabeth Charles is slated to drop her sophomore effort, Inner Dialogueon March 24th via Truth Revolution RecordsInner Dialogue is the result of a long and fulfilling two years’ worth of experimentation between Charles and her talented quartet consisting of Jesse Elder (piano), Burniss Earl Travis II (bass), and John Davis (drums). In preparation for the release date of Inner Dialogue, we are proud to present the video premiere of “White and Blue,” the first single from Charles’ forthcoming LP.

Video Premiere: Sarah Elizabeth Charles - "White and Blue"

“[S.E. Charles] has the rare ability to cut right to the marrow of the sentiment she’s trying to convey,” comments trumpeter Christian Scott, who served as the album’s co-producer and special guest. “She instantly rids the listener of uncertainty of meaning, principally through her willingness to be vulnerable and to diligently hone her craft creating a great uniqueness. I’ve spent days going through her works, trying to sift through an incredibly dense harmonic, melodic and rhythmic framework that seems to be designed not to browbeat the listener with musical hipness, but to captivate and connect.”

You would only need to play “White and Blue” to understand why Scott had to spend days going through S.E. Charles’ compositions. The lead single isn’t exactly a song-while-you-wash-the-dishes type track. “White and Blue” demands and ultimately captures the listener’s full attention upon first listen. If “White and Blue” serves as a microcosm for her larger vision for Inner Dialogue, then we certainly look forward to hear the rest of it.
