Drummer Marcus Baylor wasn’t lying when he jumped on stage and told the people of Moers: “We’re just going to have church in here.” He along with his wife, Jean Baylor, recently hit Germany to bring a little light and goodness during the Moers Jazz Festival. Collectively known as the Baylor Project, the husband and wife duo provided the eastern German city with their brand of jazz, gospel, soul and all-around-feel-good-down-to-your-bones music. Joined by Eric Reed on piano, saxophonist Keith Loftis and bassist Dezron Douglas, Jean and Marcus Baylor kept audiences at their feet throughout the ebb and flow of their hour-long set.
