The Jazz Foundation of America‘s annual gala, “A Great Night In Harlem,” will take place on Thursday, October 22nd at the Apollo Theater. This year’s Lifetime Achievement Honoree is the legendary Sonny Rollins. For over 26 years, The Jazz Foundation of America has helped elderly jazz and blues artists with financial, medical, housing, and legal assistance. This year’s “A Great Night In Harlem” will also feature a special tribute to the late B.B. King. Last year’s gala saw the Lifetime Achievement honor handed down to Herbie Hancock as well as performances from Wallace Roney, Jimmy and “Tootie” Heath, piano prodigy Joey Alexander, and more.
