Last August, Revive Music released Supreme Sonacy, Vol. 1, an album that featured some of the leading musicians in today’s jazz, R&B, and next wave soul & funk. Among these was Brandee Younger, a classically-trained harpist who has cut her teeth working with major jazz artists such as Jack DeJohnette, Charlie Haden, Pharoah Sanders and Ravi Coltrane, along with hip-hop artists Common, Drake, John Legend and most recently, Lauryn Hill, to name a few. Younger follows in the lineage of Dorothy Ashby and Alice Coltrane, keeping the admittedly small but vital jazz harp scene very much alive. Her debut EP Prelude was released in June 2011 to critical acclaim, and her forthcoming album Wax & Wane, slated for release Feb. 19th, 2016, is already generating buzz. Join Younger as she plays Rockwood Music Hall on January 16th, 2016 – tickets & info below.
