Philadelphia based groove collective Killiam Shakespeare celebrates their self-titled debut LP with an exclusive stream of the new single “21st Century” featuring Chris Turner. The project, which arrives today via Ropeadope Records, boasts appearances from Turner, Jennah Bell, Ebony Joi, Louis Fouche, Wayne Moore, Dwayne Wright, Noel Scales, Dayne Jordan, Randy Runyon, Dai Miyazaki, Pablo Batista and Adam Blackstone. A sonic snapshot of their varied influences, the Killiam Shakespeare LP finds band members Corey Bernhard (keys), Steve McKie(drums), Andre Pinckney (bass), Anthony DeCarlo (guitar) and Aaron Draper (percussion) serving up a hard rocking introduction to the chameleonic grooves, crisp rhythm and fighting spirit at the core of their sound with a 13-track collection that plays well beyond the purview of your standard freshman release. Channeling Return to Forever, Parliament, Mahavishnu, body roll r&b and Philly’s Axis Music while packing in nods to the Robert Glasper Experiment, FlyLo‘s Brainfeeder camp and other peers, Killiam Shakespeare somehow manages to venture a few miles deeper into space with one foot planted firmly in the steady vamp of Studio Pine. If that weren’t enough, there’s also that healthy nod the band received from Gilles Peterson:
