London-based saxophonist Nubya Garcia debuts the packshot video for “Once” from the forthcoming We Out Here compilation, due to arrive on February 9th via Brownswood Recordings. Heavily influenced by her Caribbean roots, Garcia has made a name for herself as a leader and collaborator. She sports a resume that includes work with MOBO Award-winning drummer Moses Boyd, jungle producer Congo Natty and membership in the bands Maisha, and the Nérija Septet. Garcia also released her acclaimed Nubya’s 5ive album in 2017 on Jazz: Refreshed. The clip for the driving, blues-inflected afrojazz theme lands just ahead of her Winter Jazzfest 2018 performance on Wednesday night at Le Poisson Rouge for Gilles Peterson‘s British Jazz Showcase presented by PRS Foundation and BBC Music Introducing. The show will also feature performances from The Comet Is Coming, Yazz Ahmed and Oscar Jerome. Similarly, the forthcoming We Out Here compilation boasts a mighty roster of contributors including Shabaka Hutchings, Theon Cross, Ezra Collective, Joe Armon Jones, Triforce, Moses Boyd, Kokoroko and Maisha.
