Multidisciplinary Artist Elbows Talks The Art + Sound of His 2018 'Sycamore' EP In Conversation With Revive.

Max Schieble is a singer, songwriter, vocalist, producer, musician, and illustrator creating under the mononym Elbows. His signature sound – a fusion of jazz, hip-hop, electronic and psych-pop – anchored the acclaimed 2017 Corduroy EP and the more recent Sycamore EP, which landed at the top of 2018. Not just the musical brain behind the project, Elbows is the creative mastermind whose uncanny ability to build a vivid world from his freshest musical ideas and most cherished memories has found him lending a high level of craft to everything from composition and recording to the art direction of the release. The second in a planned trilogy of projects, Sycamore is the 808 and synth-powered vehicle Elbows uses to take listeners from his birthplace in the Bay Area, where he grew up as an only child, through his artistic evolution – a journey that ultimately landed him in Brooklyn, New York. Elbows explained the creative process behind the project and his plans for the future in an exclusive interview with Revive.
