Musical performances by: Vegas native Anu~Sun, a drummer and godson of Jazz legend Lionel Hampton, whose music offers an eclectic blend of hip hop, funk and jazz. Anu’s latest project, The Adventures of Mr. Las Vegas, features British neo soul pioneer Omar Lyefook, Blue Note jazz pianist Robert Glasper and world-renowned drummer Chris “Daddy” Dave, plus DoItAll Dupré (from the hip hop group The Lords of The Underground) and jazz trumpeter Leron Thomas.”

Thursday 3/24 the James Casey Band will be debuting at Kenny Castaway’s with James on tenor sax, Corey Bernhard on keys, Adam Agati on guitar, Reuben Cainer on bass, and Jonas Imbert on drums. The set will run one hour.

Continuing their two-week residency at Brooklyn Bowl, tonight’s show will feature Soulive with special guests Corey Glover, Nigel Hall, Robert Randolph, and a DJ set by Kraz.

The Robert Glasper Experiemnt will be at Blue Note tonight through Sunday night accompanied by special guests each night. Tonight (2/24) features Stokely from Mint Condition on the mic, while Friday and Saturday feature Lupe Fiasco. On Sunday the Experiment will be accompanied by renowned vocalist Lalah Hathaway. Each night has a set at 8PM and 10:30PM.

Who better to celebrate the seminal ballads of John Coltrane and Johnny Hartman’s 1963 recordings than the only living musician who took part in them, McCoy Tyner. Tyner brings with him a talented group of musicians including drummer Francisco Mela, bassist Gerald Cannon, and saxophonist Eric Alexander to complement Jose James in undertaking this meaningful homage to the work of two great artists.

With his widely acclaimed new album, Album of The Year, recently released, Black Milk has been making moves into the spotlight. Aside from his solo work, Milk’s production discography reads like a who’s who of hip-hop including artists such as Slum Village, Big Pooh, KRS-One, Skyzoo, Pharoahe Monch, and more. With Album of The Year, Black Milk sought to integrate samples and live instruments into coherent tracks, thus making his performances that much more exciting to see it happen live. This night, he will also be honoring the memory of J Dilla. Joining Black Milk will be Danny Brown and DJ House Shoes.
