Emerging as the third single from the Robert Glasper Experiment’s Black Radio 2 (Blue Note Records) due out on October 29th, “Let It Ride” features some heavy groove and swag at a breakneck speed featuring fellow Blue Note recording artist and songstress Norah Jones. Clocking in at a lengthy seven-minutes-and-six-seconds, the track even ends with a comedic cameo voicemail from Wayne Brady!
Last week we presented Tawiah’s debut in New York City as her own act and luckily for the audience, she brought along a dynamic band consisting of her main collaborator Jodi Milliner and NYC’s own Justin Tyson on drums. The UK songstress also called in two of her incredibly talented friends Muhsinah and Carolyn Malachi to join her on the bill. Check out below for some clips from the show and be on the lookout for all of these amazing artists when they return to a city near you!
On Tuesday June 25th, London based artist Tawiah will take the stage at Subculture, New York’s newest live music venue with Special Guest, Grammy Nominated singer Muhsinah and a special opening performance by Carolyn Malachi.
Mixing the resonance of her South London roots with a deeply personal canon of songs, Tawiah has already achieved what many in their lifetime careers can not—a sense of uniqueness. Following her musical development at the Brit School, Tawiah saw a whirlwind entry into the worldwide circuit as she was pursued for stints with Corinne Bailey Rae, Cee Lo Green, and most notably Mark Ronson while being declared the “best newcomer” by Gilles Peterson.
