Rachel Eckroth is both a top-notch singer and a dynamic piano player, but be wary of slinging her into the box with other singer-songwriters, because her music is both unique and has some serious substance (check out by our interview for more info on that). Today we’re bringing you some footage featuring the growing community of musicians over at Electrik Indigo Studios where Eckroth recorded ‘Let Go.’
We’ve long been singing the praises of the the live band José James has out together, but this is just on another level. James and crew headed out to Amsterdam to team up with Amsterdam’s Koninklijk Concertgebouworkest (The Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra) for a performance captured by Het Radio 4 Concerthuis.
This week José James performed “Trouble” off of his upcoming album No Beginning, No End on the Conan O’Brien Show. As always it was a stellar performance with his band that boasts Kris Bowers on keys/piano, Solomon Dorsey on bass, Nate Smith on drums, Takuya Kuroda on trumpet, and Corey King on trombone. This is without a doubt one of the baddest live bands around now.
Producer. Engineer. Multi-instrumentalist. Singer? Jesse Fischer holds no bars with his latest Soul Cycle release. Retro Future is the manifestation of Fischer’s vision. A mix of acoustic, electric, and electronic instruments, the album ranges from original compositions to covers, and from old-school to the future. If there is one take-away from this release, it is that you can not underestimate the power and vision of true artists. Check out the album streaming below with a track-by-track analysis by Jesse Fischer.
This past week Lakecia Benjamin brought her band SoulSquad along with a slew of special guests to Le Poisson Rouge to celebrate the release of her new album Retox. As you will see below, the energy they brought that night can not be matched by many. Check out their opening tune as well as a highlight of the night as dualing keyboardists Chris Rob and Jesse Fischer took it to each other with Fischer on the Motif and Rob rocking the keytar.
Check out this explosive live recording of Jose James at the Triple Door in Seattle from 12/6/11. His band for the night included a talented cast of musicians, each known for exemplary musicianship and creativity in their own right. James hit the stage with Kris Bowers on piano, Solomon Dorsey on bass, Takuya Kuroda on trumpet, and Nate Smith on drums.
