This weekend saw jazz fans converge on downtown Manhattan for what could be the most unpretentious, unassuming, realistic glimpse at some of the pioneers of the modern jazz scene. Forget the sit-down venues with unrealistic cover charges and the maître d’s who demand an unrealistic ambiance of clap-clap silence. The Winter JazzFest, presented by Boom Collective and Search & Restore, allowed for an array of artists, both well-known and up-and-coming, to be featured in a setting more conducive to spreading the life and energy of modern jazz.
This January will mark the 7th year of the Winter JazzFest produced by Brice Rosenbloom of Boom Collective. The event will be held on January 6th and 7th, and will be held at various venues throughout the city, and span the genre of jazz in all of it’s permutations, old and new. Tickets will be made available this Friday, 10/28th on the Winter JazzFest website.
Need we really remind you again to go to this year’s Winter Jazzfest? Guaranteed, hands down, Revive has the best lineup of the weekend at Sullivan Hall, starting at 7 and going until they shut us out. Well okay, you should check out the other shows too. The festivities begin tomorrow night at several venues in West Village in New York City. Do not miss out on seeing some of the most incredible talent in the jazz world today.
