HighBreedMusic continues their live in-studio video series with an appearance from trumpeter Theo Croker. Performing a melancholic rendition of his original composition “Because of You” Croker’s performance at The Breeding Ground NYC — The World’s First Recording Lounge follows similar performances from Louis Cato, Smithsoneon, and Marc Cary.
Playing a cut from his critically-acclaimed album Escape Velocity, Croker’s live take of “Because of You” resonates deeply with listeners as evidenced by the in-studio audience’s enthusiasm. While Croker’s performance on his horn is nothing short of breath-taking, his backing band comprised of Anthony Ware on sax, Kassa Overall behind the kit, Eric Wheeler on bass also play their parts to perfection to create a unified sound. Pianist Michael King also adds to beautiful sonic tapestry with a lush intro on the Steinway.
Filmed by Nikki Birch, Andreas Hofweber, Tariq Khan, and Isaac Campbell, the expertly captured video gives viewers the illusion that we’re right there in the studio with the actual audience. This video is the penultimate in HighBreedMusic’s preliminary run of this series. If this and the previous videos are any indication, then we’re excited for the next video and whatever else they have for us in the near future.
